The Micro Nano Technology (MNT) Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting is an all-day event on July 18, 2017 at HI-TEC in Salt Lake City, Utah. This meeting is a venue to share ideas and learn from others who work to educate technicians, a place to stay on the forefront of industry and workforce needs, and a forum to network and share ideas on ways to strengthen and augment workforce development programs through educational partnerships with industry for tomorrow's micro and nano technology workforce. Simply stated, the goals of the MNT SIG are threefold: • Increase knowledge and awareness of micro and nano science/technologies among STEM educators in secondary and post-secondary institutions. • Increase participation, collaboration, and networking with a diverse set of educators, industry representatives, students and administrators in micro/nano related branches of STEM. • Provide a perspective from students and working micro and nano technical professionals (including technicians) on skills preparation in technical education programs. HI-TEC is a national conference on advanced technological education where secondary and postsecondary educators, counselors, industry professionals, trade organizations, and technicians can update their knowledge and skills. Charged with Educating America's Technical Workforce, the event focuses on the preparation needed by the existing and future workforce for companies in the high-tech sectors that drive our nation's economy. The MNT Executive Committee and its sponsor, the National Science Foundation, recognize the importance of these two consecutive events and are, therefore, offering fellowships to attend these events.
